The Tribute is north of Dallas in The Colony on a peninsula jutting into Lewisville Lake.

The layout combines holes from the links courses of Scotland, including St. Andrews-the Road Hole, the Postage Stamp at Troon, Carnoustie, Moray, Nairn, Prestwick, and Royal Dornoch, among others. The course is a link-style design over mounded fairways with tall fescue grasses bordering the landing areas and well-bunkered fairways and greens. Also adding to the interest, each hole has tee markers that identify a historical element relating to the particular hole. It plays to 7,002 yards, 73.2/128, course/slope ratings from the championship tees with five shorter tees, designed by Tripp Davis.
