Penn National is southeast of Chambersburg near Mont Alto, with two 18-hole championship courses.
The first to be built was the Founder's course, a classic parkland layout on rolling hills with tree-lined fairways, moderate bunkering use, and large contoured greens that are fast and undulating. There's water in play on a few holes, and overall, it's a challenging and interesting course. It will play to 6,972 yards, 73.8/137 course/slope ratings with three shorter tes, designed by Ed Ault.
Iron Forge is near Michaux State Forest in the foothills of South Mountain. In contrast to the Founder's, it's more of a rolling links design without many trees to affect play. However, fairways are bordered by tall fescue, and there is water on half a dozen holes. From the tips, it's 7,009 yards,73.8/133, course/slope ratings, and three shorter tees, designed by Bill Loves.
