Clifton Highlands is across the Mississippi from Hastings in Wisconsin, south of I-94 at the River Falls exit then south on WI 35.

The course is a parkland layout in the St. Croix River Valley carved through deep woods over a slightly rolling topography. It's generally straightforward save for several doglegs with six water features and 25 sand traps defending the oval or kidney-shaped greens and the occasional fairway. It plays to 6,642 yards, 71.9/129, course/slope ratings from the tips with four shorter tees, designed by Dr. Gordon Emerson.
