Canyon Springs is located in north central San Antonio at the edge of the Texas Hill Country adjacent to the original Claussen Homestead.

The course partially climbs over and through a former rock quarry, now a residential development, without disturbing much of the land. It's challenging with several forced carries over natural areas, a generous amount of sand bunkers, and long and thick rough bordering the fairways, which is at least a stroke lost to recover. The course plays to 7,077 yards from the back tees, 74.9/137, course/slope ratings with four shorter tee boxes, designed by Thomas Walker.
