Barton Creek Resort & Spa has 4-18 hole golf courses in the Hill Country west of and near Austin. Tom Fazio designed two courses, the Foothills and Fazio Canyons, Coore and Crenshaw designed the Cliffside, and Arnold Palmer the Lakeside.
The Foothills is carved through limestone cliffs and rolling hills with significant elevation change. The course's small greens are guarded by grass and sand bunkers and water hazards on 8 holes with a spectacular closing hole. The course plays to 7,125 yards, 74.0/138, course/slope ratings from the back tees with four shorter tees.
The Core/Crenshaw course is similar to the Foothills, running through the same type of rolling land with trees along the fairways but with less water in play and medium to large greens well protected by sand bunkers. There are five sets of tees from 4,726 yards to 6,630 yards, and the middle tees play to 5,660 yards, 66.4/112 course/slope ratings.
Palmer Lakeside is over a hillside overlooking Lake Travis and is an enjoyable, less punishing layout. The greens are medium-sized, fast, and undulating, and water comes into play on five holes, including the 11th, a par 3 with a waterfall. There are four sets of tees from 4,726 yards to 6,407 yards at the tips, with a slope of 133 and a course rating of 72.2.
The Fazio Canyons is the most challenging layout at Barton Creek. The course winds through mature stands of trees with water on 7 holes and 50 sand traps along unique and isolated, fairway corridors. It plays to 7,153 yards, 75.1/141, course/slope from the tips with four shorter tees.
