Woodlake is 45 miles northeast of Knoxville, near the Kentucky border, and 20 miles south of Cumberland Gap Park on the north side of Norris Lake.

The golf course is an entertaining layout traversing hilly, tree-lined fairways. A couple of holes overlook Norris Lake, providing scenic views of the surrounding countryside. From the back tees, the course is 6,771 yards, 72.1/127 course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Chip Powell and Ed Connor in 1999.
