The Tempest Golf Club is located just west of Longview in Gladewater, off I-20 at TX-135 to the north.

The golf course is a reconstitution of the former Southern Hills Golf Club, which was noted as being the worst golf course on the best land in Texas. The layout was lengthened significantly using only six holes along their original corridors. The undulating fairways are generally along broad corridors of pine trees with a generous amount of sand from tee to green and Rocky Creek straddling the middle of the layout, creating water features on most holes. There are five sets ranging from 4,512 yards off the red to 7,229 off the black, 73.7/130 course/slope ratings, redesigned by Jeff Brauer.
