Tall Pines is on the southeast side of Friendsville, carved through the woods over a large, tumbling tract of land.

The course moves along rolling fairways lined with pine trees and old-growth hardwoods. The layout is generally straightforward, save for several gentle doglegs with water features in play on five holes overall. It's a par of 70 and a short, 5,297-yard, 66.0/116 course/slope rating off the back tees with three shorter tee boxes, designed by Ron Wilkins.
