Spooner is in northwest Wisconsin near the Minnesota border on Spooner Lake, about an hour and a half north of Eau Claire.

It's a traditional layout from the 1930s, winding through a parkland setting along narrow, tree-lined fairways with six water hazards, a modest amount of sand bunkers, and small greens. It's 6,458 yards, 71.2/129 course/slope ratings from the back tees with three shorter tees, and the front nine was designed by Tom Vardon, Harry's brother, with Dr. Gordon Emerson adding the back in 1980.
