The River Valley Golf Club is on the east side of Westfield, well out in the country, without homes or development along the golf course.

The parkland layout moves over a series of flat and hilly stretches of topography in a scenic setting with trees lining most of the fairways. There are sand traps generally around the greens in addition to Jemison Creek and several ponds in play, but the broad fairways are receptive off the tee. There are four sets of tees from 4,753 yards to 6,258 yards at the tips, 69.2/123 course/slope ratings, designed by Geoffrey Cornish in the early 1960s.
