River Pointe is southwest of Houston in Richmond, on forested land on the south side of the Brazos River.

The golf course is a parkland layout meandering along a large, level tract of land with trees defining the fairway corridors. Water is the dominant feature here and is in play on most of the holes, in addition to a generous amount of sand bunkers, mostly around the greens and the occasional fairway. There are four sets of tees overall, with the tips playing to a par of 71 from 6,904 yards, 73.3/122, course/slope ratings, designed by Carlton Gipson.
