The Par Country Club is along the south bank of Proctor Lake, a 14,100-acre lake built on the Leon River. It is 100 miles southwest of Fort Worth, 90 miles south of Abilene, and only 24 miles east of Brownwood.

The layout partially moves through a residential community with the balance of the holes bordered by natural areas or adjoining holes. The fairways are lined with trees over a slight elevation change, with several doglegs and seven ponds scattered about coming into play.
