The Mark Twain Golf Course is a municipal layout located between Elmira and Horseheads off the Southern Tier at College Avenue to the south.

The golf course is entertaining over rolling hills with several water hazards in play and sand bunkers, mainly around the modest, raised greens. The course was a WPA project in the Depression, and the city fathers named it after Twain, a favorite son. They must have never heard him saying that "golf is a good walk spoiled"! It can play to 6,857 yards from the tips, 73.6/130, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, a Donald Ross classic design.
