Hayward is located 2 blocks north of downtown Hayward on a large tract of forested parkland.

The course is a shotmaker's layout along tree-lined fairways, with 10 holes as doglegs, 50+ sand bunkers, water hazards on 4 holes, and modest, well-defended greens. From the tips, it's 6,718 yards, 72.4/126 course/slope ratings, and three shorter tees. It was redesigned by Ken Killian in 1998.
