The Hat Creek Golf Course is 30 miles south of Lynchburg, off US 501 to the east at Brookneal.

The family-owned golf course is a 9-hole layout in a parkland setting in the Roanoke River Valley of Central Virginia. It is over rolling hills and along tree-lined fairways with a couple of doglegs and water hazards, along with a variety of sand bunkers guarding the greens. Bill Singleton designed the course in the mid-1970s. It plays to 3,131 yards from the tips, 35.2/122 course/slope ratings, with two shorter tees.
